Ground-Breaking Ceremony for Second Plant in China

MD ELEKTRONIK celebrates a milestone of further growth in the Asian Market

At the beginning of July, the construction of the new MD ELEKTRONIK plant in Changzhou, China was initiated with the symbolic ground-breaking ceremony.  In the presence of the Mayor for the district of Jintan, Dong Shen, and numerous guests from politics and business, Robert Hofmann, Spokesman of the Management Board of MD ELEKTRONIK GmbH, and Matthias Borkowski, Global Vice President of Production, Technology & Operations at MD ELEKTRONIK GmbH, celebrated the start of construction of the second Asian production location.

Robert Hofmann considers this plant in Changzhou to be special. “The expansion of the production network has always served to strengthen our position in global markets. With our second location in China, we will ensure the necessary flexibility and capacity in one of the most important markets of the automotive industry.” In addition to the new location in Changzhou, plants in Chotěšov (Czech Republic), Beijing (China), and León (Mexico) are part of the MD ELEKTRONIK production network. To strengthen the position on the European market, a plant is currently being built in Vratsa (Bulgaria), which will open in 2020.

The new location in China has a production and logistics area of more than 7,000 square meters and is being built in the Jintan District of Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. The metropolis is located between the Chinese metropolises of Shanghai and Nanjing and offers excellent infrastructural and logistical framework conditions. Production is planned to commence in the third quarter of 2020.
