MD ELEKTRONIK Celebrates Groundbreaking in Bulgaria

MD ELEKTRONIK expands its production network with a new location near Sofia

The production network of MD ELEKTRONIK will grow by an additional location in Vratsa, Bulgaria. Thus, the automotive supplier is going to strengthen its presence in the European area. With the traditional groundbreaking, MD ELEKTRONIK celebrated the symbolic start of construction of the new location together with the Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, the Minister of Economy Emil Karanikolov and numerous other guests from the world of politics and business at the beginning of April 2019.

In the months to come, the plant is going to be established with a production and logistics area of 10,000 square meters. Data cables and electronic components for numerous car manufacturers and system suppliers will be manufactured here in the future. In addition to the location in Bulgaria, the MD ELEKTRONIK production network consists of the lead production plant in the Czech Republic as well as plants in China and Mexico.

The location in Bulgaria has been primarily selected for the good educational level, its central location, well-established infrastructure and logistical framework conditions, said Ctibor Žižka, member of the Management Board of MD ELEKTRONIK during the groundbreaking ceremony. The plant is located in close proximity to the Bulgarian capital Sofia and near the border with Romania.

Until 2020, the establishment of MD ELEKTRONIK EOOD, which is the company´s registered name, will be completed. Production is expected to start next year, and will create approximately 300 new jobs in the medium term.
